COIMA SGR has been awarded the LEED for Communities” and “WELL Community” certifications for the Porta Nuova district in Milan making it the first neighbourhood in the world to obtain both of these prestigious global sustainability ratings.
Awarded by the US Green Building Council and the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the certifications recognise the social, environmental and economic sustainability of a real estate project and its positive impact on health and well-being. Porta Nuova is the first urban redevelopment in the world to achieve this double recognition, positioning the project as a global exemplar in sustainable urban development and neighbourhood level regeneration.
These two complementary certifications considered the social, environmental and economic aspects of the Porta Nuova development, documenting the commitment to creating a district dedicated to the community which lives there through the activation of public spaces, the creation of an innovative, repeatable urban economic model, and the development of community communications tools.
