COIMA’s commitment to ensuring its buildings’ sustainability started from the first developments in Porta Nuova, in 2005, when Torre Unicredit in Milan was the first Italian building to register for LEED certification. This culminated with the first WELL certified office tower in 2021: Corso Como Place.
In addition to these milestones, a double LEED and WELL For Community certification was obtained in 2022 for the Porta Nuova district, making it the first in the world to obtain both sustainability certifications.
LEED ensures high environmental performance. This includes building energy and emissions efficiency, water consumption and recycling and reuse of waste. WELL certification ensures high building health and safety standards, rewarding those buildings that look after the wellbeing of their users. Finally, COIMA is a WiredScore certification early adopter. This completes the environmental and social framework, ensuring the most innovative building digitisation and connectivity systems.
COIMA responds to the needs of a market increasingly attentive to environmental, social and innovative aspects. Certifying its commitment is not the end goal but a start for the continuous improvement of its sustainability performance.
